On April 25, 2026, at approximately 0908 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Sterling. Investigation revealed Dean McBride, age 60 of Sterling, was threatening suicide with a handgun by putting the gun in his mouth among other behavior. Eventually he fired a round into the wall of his bedroom. Troopers responded to the residence after the fact where McBride surrendered peacefully after being called out from the house. McBride was visibly intoxicated and later provided a PBT of .208 BrAC. McBride was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial on the charges of MIW 2, MIW4, Assault 4, and Criminal Mischief 5 where he was held without bail.
